Nino Niederreiter joins Padelta as co-owner

Padel, a racquet sport that is rapidly gaining popularity in Switzerland, has captivated Niederreiter. He will become a co-owner of Padelta and thus actively participate in the development of padel in Switzerland.

Niederreiter, captain of the Swiss national ice hockey team and a successful NHL player, discovered his passion for padel this summer. I played for the first time in the summer at the Padelta pop-up in Puls 5 and was immediately thrilled,” Niederreiter said. The sport has all the prerequisites to become the future sport for the general public. No matter if you are young or old or speak what language – padel connects people,” he added.

Niederreiter’s investment comes at a time when Padelta is already experiencing strong growth. In 2024, at least five additional locations will be added, including one in Niederreiter’s hometown of Chur. The successful pop-up locations in the city of Zurich will be continued. The investment is not limited to new locations, but also focuses on the further development of the own academy. With Ivan Lopez and José Blanquez, Padelta has highly qualified head coaches who are responsible for the training of the internal coaches. With the successful first official international FIP tournament in Switzerland in August, a milestone was also set in the tournament area, which will be expanded in the long term.

In addition to the sport of padel, I was excited by the history and ambitions of Padelta. From a start-up, it quickly became a small business with a strong brand. I am extremely excited to be part of the Padelta family and to bring my experience and passion as a professional athlete to the table so that we can together develop the padel sport in Switzerland,” Niederreiter said.

Niederreiter’s commitment to Padelta will undoubtedly be an exciting development for the sport and the brand itself. We are proud to have Nino on our team. He is an absolute leader – on and off the ice. His personality and his commitment to excellence perfectly reflect the values of Padelta. With his support, Padelta will continue to grow and play an even greater role in the Swiss padel community,” said Yannick Moser, founder and CEO of Padelta.

In addition to the location in Rothenburg (Lucerne), the locations in Emmen (Lucerne) and in Greifensee (Zurich) will be opened in 2023. The Milandia project in Greifensee will be the new Padelta flagship – here a state-of-the-art padel hall will be built. The planned opening is the end of November 2023. In 2024, the locations in Biberist (Solothurn), Chur (Grisons) and Würenlingen (Aargau) will follow.
