Padelta Open Arosa: A Resounding Success
What a weekend. From June 20 to 21, the Obersee lake in Arosa transformed into Switzerland’s most spectacular padel location. For the very first Padelta Open, top athletes, social media personalities and entertainers gathered on a floating padel court – right in the middle of the lake. With perfect weather, great energy and a high-profile player field, the tournament offered a unique mix of top-level sport and summer atmosphere.
Big Names on the Water
Among the participants were some of the most recognised names in sports and entertainment. Tennis legend Martina Hingis, former football pros Diego Benaglio and Mladen Petric, ski stars Ryan Regez and Andri Ragettli, as well as social media personalities like Aditotoro, Gabirano, Nadia Goedhart, Sandro Galfetti and snowboarder Nicolas Huber took to the court. The line-up was completed by Switzerland’s top-ranked padel players, Karin Hechenberger and Till Gygax.
The unique setting on the water created an unforgettable atmosphere – for both players and the many spectators along the lakeshore.
Benaglio and Petric Win the Padelta Open
After exciting group matches on Friday, the finals were held on Saturday. In a thrilling final, Diego Benaglio and Mladen Petric emerged as tournament champions. The well-rehearsed duo impressed with excellent teamwork and smart play. Second place went to Karin Hechenberger and Aditotoro, while Martina Hingis and Nicolas Huber secured third.
After the match, Petric shared that he had been playing padel intensively for years – almost daily – and called the tournament in Arosa a truly special experience. “You only get a setting like this here,” he said.
More Than Sport – The Padelta Village
The event was accompanied by the Padelta Village, located directly on the lakeside. With free entry for all guests, visitors could enjoy the matches and a vibrant programme of activities. Food stalls, bars and lounge areas created a relaxed summer vibe. Live music and on-site moderation by Salar Bahrampoori added to the atmosphere, making the Padelta Open not only a sporting event, but a social highlight of the season.
A Bold Statement for Padel in Switzerland
The Padelta Open was more than a tournament – it marked the inauguration of Switzerland’s first floating padel court and highlighted the growing relevance of padel in the country. The event proved how dynamic, inclusive and engaging padel can be – especially in a place like Arosa, where nature, tourism and sport come together in a unique way.
The court will remain open until the end of September and is available for public bookings – an opportunity not to be missed for anyone wanting to experience the sport in an extraordinary setting.
Heartfelt Thanks to Arosa Tourismus and Our Partners
The Padelta Open in Arosa was not only a sporting success but also the result of a bold and visionary project, unmatched in Switzerland. The floating court on the Obersee and the event surrounding it were only possible thanks to strong partnerships and shared conviction.
A special thank-you goes to Arosa Tourismus, who actively supported the entire project from day one – from concept and planning to execution. Without their openness, enthusiasm and professional cooperation, neither the court nor an event of this scale would have been possible.
In particular, we thank Roland Schuler, Director of Arosa Tourismus, and Marion Schmitz, Deputy Director. This project demonstrates Arosa Tourismus’ commitment to shaping Arosa into a modern, year-round destination – and how a bold vision can become reality with impact far beyond the region.
We also extend our gratitude to all partners who made this project and event possible. As Main Partner, Emmi Energy Milk played a key role, alongside NIVEA SUN as dedicated Premium Partner. We also relied on the valued support of our Event Partners – including Barilla, Rivella, Feldschlösschen, Chandon, Asics and Babolat.
Thanks to this strong collaboration, the Padelta Open Arosa became both a sporting and emotional highlight – and the floating court a symbol of creative partnership, innovation in alpine summer tourism, and the future of padel in Switzerland.
